netTerrain OSP Communicate and track changes in your fiber plant

netTerrain OSP Robust, easy, affordable: you can get it all

Solve challenges in managing outside plant cabling and infrastructure with netTerrain OSP: a user-friendly and 100% web-based visualization software. With this flexible platform, organizations can add any element to its maps and diagrams – from manholes to antennas to creating your own types of ducts (using GIS-enabled maps that offer exact positioning with 19 zoom levels and 6-decimal precision).

Decision makers gain access to a set of real-time diagrams and reports that facilitate aligning IT investments with business objectives through reduction of costs, improved service levels and the mitigation of risks.

netTerrain OSP provides cable management for the inside and outside plant. Measure distances between objects on maps, lengths of connections (including their bend points) and automatically place objects based on latitude/longitude values or city/town names. netTerrain OSP also allows data and maps from Google Earth (KMZ/KML) to be imported.

Speed up troubleshooting and deployment

  • Reduce downtime by quickly identified end-to-end connections
  • Pinpoint exact locations of each connection segment and element
  • Find any attributes you like in seconds with our quick search
  • Create circuits with simple drag and drops and map each assigned path down to the port level
  • Attach any documents to your OSP elements and manage them like you do in SharePoint

Improve connection utilization and streamline capacity planning

  • Create end-to-end circuits and underlying paths
  • View circuit layout records for full connectivity paths including the inside and outside plant hierarchies for each segment
  • Tag any circuit by customer, id, or any attribute you like
  • Easily visualize fill and occupancy rates of conduits, ducts, buffers by assigned fiber strand or other custom criteria
  • View any occupancy and capacity reports in table or dashboard form

GIS-enabled outside and inside plant in one tool

  • Easily navigate from a wide area down to city, street and building level
  • Access building floor plans, physical location of devices down to cards and ports and all the associated connections
  • GIS-enabled dynamic maps with 6 decimal precision for exact lat/long positioning, 19 zoom levels and 4 different map layers
  • Place any element on maps and diagrams. By any, we really mean any: you can model your own types of ducts, manholes, conduits, towers, poles, antennas or whatever you like
  • No thick clients or plug-ins

netTerrain OSP Key Features

Visually manage your fiber, copper, transmission and wireless networks

Fully GIS-enabled maps

  • Assign a dynamic map to your netTerrain diagram in seconds with easy search and point and click
  • 6 decimal precision for exact lat/long positioning
  • 19 zoom levels – from the world view down to the street/block level
  • 4 map layers including a standard, transport, and light layer for less cluttered maps
  • Measure distances between objects on maps, lengths of connections (including their bend points) and automatically place objects based on lat/long values or city/town names

Outside plant element management

  • Place, view and search with precision any OSP elements, including: manholes, conduits, towers, fiber trunks, buffers, splices, splitters and any custom object you’d like
  • Hierarchically map all OSP elements according to your own layers (such as strands in buffers in ducts in conduits, or connection points with splitters with manholes, etc)
  • Manage towers, antennas, radio equipment, wireless connections and more

Inside plant asset and cable management

  • Space, floor plan and rack management
  • Power and temperature monitoring within the data center and buildings
  • Asset management with unlimited properties and precise location and rack elevation views
  • Cable and circuit management within the data center, including overhead tray occupancies and underfloor cabling

Transport layer management

  • Discover and visualize any network and transport technology
  • Create Fiber, Wireless and SONET/SDH/PDH topology rings and map each device back to its physical location
  • Create layer 1 and 2 circuits according to the specific Fiber, Ethernet or SONET/SDH/PDH hierarchy with unlimited bundling (nesting) of circuits of lower order with circuits of higher order

Discovery capabilities

  • SNMP discovery of devices, ports and link data
  • Bring in data using other protocols to leverage things such as environmental parameters such as power and temperature usage
  • Predefined integrations with existing monitoring systems and an easy way to create new integrations
  • Bulk import (one time or on a continuous basis) data from text and spreadsheets and static diagrams (Visio, netViz and other desktop and legacy tools)

Complete circuit and cable management

  • Create end to end high level circuits with their overall properties and map the underlying physical paths
  • View the network from a layer 1 to layer 7 perspective in topology views
  • Manage circuits for SONET/SDH, MPLS/IP, and other technologies; reconcile the network automatically using connectors to the management systems
  • View circuits, change their arrow points, thickness, colors or styles based on dynamic visual overrides triggered by value (such as bandwidth), changes and using your own custom criteria
  • Run cables with precise paths and bend points through floorplans, rack elevations and even the exact device backplane view
  • Trace inter-diagram circuits
  • Automatically create internal cross connections based on template-based modeling of devices
